Overview

This PMP course will provide you with a deeper understanding of project management concepts and applications in the workplace. At the end of this course, you will be prepared to take the Project Management Professional (PMP) ® certification exam.

The goal of this program is to provide you with a detailed exploration of key project management topics and concepts, all on your own time. Once complete, you’ll have an intermediate- to advanced-level comprehension and be ready to sit for the exam. You’ll learn about project selection, strategy development, complex schedule modeling, forecasting, risk identification and assessment, stat using, recovery, and more. You’ll also cover project proposals, planning components, project evaluation, and discover first-hand the importance of a project manager to an organization.

Requirements

This program can be taken from either a Mac or a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, Microsoft Word (for assignment submissions), and Windows Media Player (which is available as a free download). We recommend that you use the latest version of Internet Explorer in place of other Web browsers.

Prerequisites

Students enrolled in this program should have at least two years’ experience managing projects or complete the Essentials of Project Management program.

Instructor Bio

Nikki Choyce, PMP® has been involved in the project management field for almost 20 years and has worked as a consultant and trainer for much of that time. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and very active in the project management community. She has worked in a variety of industries, including Information Technology, Insurance, Manufacturing, Marketing, Aerospace, Construction, and Telecommunications. She has worked with Microsoft Project for over 10 years.

Erica Kirwan, PMP® has managed numerous projects within a Fortune 200 Financial Services company as a Senior Project Manager. She has more than seven years of experience in process & project management methodologies and holds a Master of Public Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, and a Certificate in Project Management.

Brian J. Galli holds a doctoral degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. He also holds a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering, from Binghamton University (SUNY Binghamton), as well as Masters of Science in Engineering Management, from Missouri University of Science & Technology. He is a licensed professional engineer in New York State and holds a certification as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. The author’s major field of study is continuous improvement and project management integration. He works as an Assistant Professor of Management Engineering at Long Island University – Post. He also owns Apex Strategies, Ltd, a company that that specializes in continuous improvement consulting and training initiatives. He also has experience in applying industrial engineering and continuous improvement tools and concepts in a wide variety of arenas, including healthcare, manufacturing, transactional, and service environments.

   If you are unable to complete the course, contact your Student Advisor to help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that an extension fee will be charged. If you are funded through a third-party organization, approval may also be required.
6. What kind of support will I receive?
   The course instructor will be available by email to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. Occasionally, your course may be supported by a team of industry experts. You will also be assigned a Student Advisor for academic support.
7. What happens when I complete the course?
   Upon successfully passing the final exam, you will be awarded a certificate of completion from the school or organization that you registered through.
8. Am I guaranteed a job?
   ed2go courses will help you gain the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. However, you should always research the job market in your area before enrolling.
9. Can I get financial assistance?
   ed2go courses are non-credit, so they do not qualify for federal aid, FAFSA, and Pell Grant.
